The initial portion of Bart’s most popular work was captured exclusively on Fujichrome Velvia 50 & Provia 100 films while living in Hong Kong and while traveling throughout southeast Asia. That body of work was added to on later Asian return trips shooting digitally. Many viewers find a feeling of peace, a Zen-like quality about much of his work.
Returning to the States Bart turned his lenses on the treasures of the American West and Southwest, all the while looking for new artistic territories in which to expand.
As a result of some experimentation he created a new genre of images he calls ‘photo-paintings’. In creating these he uses portions of his original acrylic paintings on canvas or photographic images of found objects to create wholly new and unique abstract art pieces.
The most recent evolution was in his style of presentation as Bart developed a technique of bonding his work directly onto panels of brushed aluminum. The resulting refractive and textural aspects have resulted in a polished, contemporary look that shines, both literally and figuratively on collector’s walls all over the US, Canada and as far away as Paris. Many samples can be seen on the “Art Installations” page.
His unique work can be found on display at a series of art shows throughout the US Southwest.
